NTI – New To Industry Traineeship Program

The purpose of the I AIM Business Program initiative is to increase representation of First Nations people in the Mining Industry. With the right help, support, knowledge, and understanding of how the mining world operates, and with a keen interest, I AIM is here to help you every step of the way not only assist in securing full-time employment but also in retaining it. Our I AIM Mentors will be joining you along with your mining journey.

I AIM is dedicated to constructing a better future for the community, empowering them to create a brighter tomorrow.

The 12-month traineeship is to kick start a career path for Indigenous people in and around Queensland with permanent employment in the Mining industry.

There will be I AIM mentors, both male and female, available for all candidates across Blackwater, visiting each site regularly for face-to-face, phone call interactions with employees to discuss individual needs and preferences:

  • Enhancing your work/life balance.
  • Providing any necessary assistance with your traineeship.
  • Your I AIM mentor is there to listen to YOU, offering support and advice.
  • Offering assistance both within and outside of work.

Upon finishing the 4-week program, participants will progress into a full-time 12-month traineeship. The 12-month traineeship aims to initiate a career path for Indigenous individuals in and around Queensland, offering permanent employment opportunities in the mining industry.

I AIM remains alongside all candidates throughout the entire process. Upon completion of the 4-week training and during the transition into the traineeship, I AIM mentors will conduct regular check-ins with employees, providing necessary support and guidance. Participants will have direct contact with their I AIM Mentor.

I AIM is for Indigenous Men & Women 18 and over for experienced and non-experienced candidates.

Note: Non-experience candidates will be required to complete a 4-week course that will lead into a 12-month full-time traineeship for RDT Operators.
